North Staffordshire BASICs (NSB) is a medical charity based in Stoke on Trent serving the communities of Staffordshire and surrounding counties. Their doctors are tasked by the ambulance service to provide additional medical capabilities at the most serious medical emergencies. They are able to bring “hospital level care” to these patients. Their doctors are trained in anaesthesia, intensive care and emergency medicine and work at the major trauma centre in Stoke on Trent. They also train the next generation of “pre-hospital doctors” that will work on the Air Ambulances and emergency cars across the UK. NSB’s doctors are requested approximately 350 times every year by the ambulance service. They provide a doctor 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Despite all being fully qualified doctors they all offer their time and expertise for free. The charity which has to provide all its own vehicles, insurance, fuel and medical equipment receives no government money or support. The charity costs almost ten thousand pounds every year to operate. This money has to be raised by its volunteer doctors and supporters each and every year. Examples of costs: Car insurance per vehicle per year: £750 Patient monitor: £15,000 Driver training course: £1750 Medical Bag: £500 Personnel protective equipment per person: £900

Fighting Serious Strep A Infections The Conor Kerin Memorial Fund supports research into Strep A infections, in order to provide better methods of diagnosis, prevention and cure. Though this common bug is more usually associated with sore throats, serious invasive infections can be as fast, deadly and difficult to spot as Meningitis. The Fund also seeks to promote awareness of invasive Strep A infections, their symptoms and possible consequences, as well as their links with common childhood diseases such as Chicken Pox. To find out more visit our charitys website at www.conorsfund.org From this page you can make a donation or set up a fundraising page for any CKMF events you are taking part in, or even create one for your own event! Just use the buttons in the Support Us section of this page. It’s quick and easy to set up and personalise your fundraising page. Your friends, family and colleagues can then donate to your page instantly though the secure server, which means there is also no need to chase them for sponsorship money. And GiftAid can be collected automatically as well, boosting the amount you raise! Thanks for your help!
Our Furniture Re-Use Charity provides quality pre-owned furniture and all household necessities free of charge to households in need and at discount to low-income households. We sell to the general public to raise funds to cover costs and keep as much surplus furniture out of the waste stream as possible. We thus directly support children and families and those with health needs. We support our volunteers, including a number with special needs, and help young people and job seekers become ready for work, and a good number move into paid employment.

The aim of Dallaglio Foundation Rugby for Change is not to get thousands more young people playing the game and joining clubs. The aim by 2015 is to have a profound impact on the aspirations and self-esteem of around 7,000 young people who are at risk of making the wrong life choices. In the wake of the London riots, the DFR4C teams want to deliver a qualitative programme, strongly and comprehensively empowering a few, for them to positively impact many in their communities, changing the playing field from the inside. Dallaglio Foundation Rugby For Change motivates young people to make their mark on the world by giving them the opportunity to play rugby on their doorstep and become part of a team, whilst tackling social issues from youth crime, to lack of engagement in education. A key part of what we do is engage them all year round and create a development plan with the long term view of getting them ready for employment. This will involve: mentoring, work experience, skill share and partnering with companies who offer apprenticeships. We know: Our programme aims to change this, as over the next five years, we shall be working with around 7000 young people, in 10 cities (including 8 London Boroughs) to have a profound impact on changing their lives for the better. We will find a way to make a difference.
