(UK, 1063732A) Browse eventsFounded in 1732, The Portsmouth Grammar School is a co-educational day school that currently has almost 1600 pupils aged between 2½ and 18. We are very much a family school, and the support and challenges encountered by our pupils are designed to ensure every individual member of the school community is happy and successful, in that order. The school seeks to provide excellence in all areas of school life, encouraging pupils to think not only about where they will be at 18 but where they aspire to be at 25. As the oldest school in the city we honour the legacy of our Founder and former Mayor of Portsmouth, Dr William Smith, whilst adapting our values for the twenty first century. Our facilities include a brand new multi-million pound sixth form centre, a state-of-the-art science centre that opened in 2010, a music school, a modern dining and theatre complex, a fully refurbished library and all-weather hockey pitches at our Hilsea playing fields.

(UK, 1071500) Browse eventsThrive (Cardiff) is a self funded registered charity run entirely by parent volunteers of children with special needs. Our aim is to offer our very special children, their siblings and families a protective arena where they can play in an exclusive, non-judgemental and supportive environment without prejudice. All children, including disabled children, have the right to play, have fun and take part in recreational activities. Play has a very important role in a child’s development, helping to develop speech, sensory skills, imagination, independence and perhaps most importantly for our children, social skills. Sadly not all children are given this chance simply because they look or act differently, but Thrive is committed to providing children with special needs these same opportunities. Without Thrive our children would not have the chance to play and develop as lack of public awareness and understanding prevents them from accessing mainstream recreational activities. We do our very best to ensure that our children don’t miss out on the things that other children perhaps take for granted. our aims: By supporting us you are helping to raise much needed funds to enable us to continue to provide disabled children with opportunities for play and recreation, regular activities during term time and school holidays.
