YTD Raised: £0.00

St Chad's College Durham's alumni, friends and parents can support the work of our College, as we continue to provide opportunities and facilities which allow our students to excel and succeed. We currently need your help to support these projects: Paddock Pavilion & Boathouse - our new facility on our land by the river providing ample storage for our boats and social space in the newly landscaped College Paddock. Anna's Room - in memory of Anna Roots, formerly Townsend (Chad's 1998-2001) who tragically died in 2014, we are raising money for a room in the Paddock Pavilion. Postgraduate scholarships - to provide financial support to allow some of our Chad's finalists to continue their studies to research level. College Choir - each year our talented student singers and organists enrich College through its ongoing musical tradition.  We offer choral and organ scholarships and raise money to pay for music and professional training.   St Chad's College is a recognised (independent) college of Durham University, founded in 1904. Unlike the majority of Durham colleges, St Chad's is not maintained or governed by the University and is financially autonomous, independently staffed and entirely self-governed. One of the smallest of Durham's colleges in terms of student numbers (350 undergraduates, 150 postgraduates) St Chad's nonetheless has the largest staff, extensive library facilities, and among the highest undergraduate academic results in Durham. As an independent charity, which receives only a small amount of money from the University and receives none of the £9,000 tuition fee each student now pays, to be able to continue to provide and improve our facilities for our students’ studies, accommodation, wellbeing, sport, recreation and self-improvement, we rely on the generous donations of our alumni and friends. Please join the ever-increasing number of people who are proud to support St Chad’s. Dr Joe Cassidy Principal

National Long Term Survivors Group (UK, 1160307) Browse events

YTD Raised: n/a

National Long Term Survivors Group is based in the United Kingdom and provides support to people who have been living with HIV and AIDS for five or more years. NLTSG was set up to provide support for people who had been living with HIV and AIDS for 5 or more years. In the early 1990's, when the organisation was formed, reaching 5 years with an HIV diagnosis was something of a milestone and the organisation provided support to those who were dealing with an uncertain future and coping with the loss of loved ones and friends. New therapies have meant that many now live for much longer but this has not made the work of the group any less relevant. Apart from dealing with a potentially fatal disease, those affected by HIV have to cope with powerful drug therapies, stigma surrounding the disease as well as many other issues.
