The East Kilbride & District Dementia Carers Group was formed in 1990 to support people with dementia and their carers. We provide daycare, trips and outings to people with dementia, and support for the carers of people with dementia through our Carers Support Group; our Memory Cafe; and our Information and Advice service. Within daycare, we provide a wide range of activities, including: Reminiscence, Arts & Crafts, Quizzes, Music Therapy, board games, hairdressing, gentle exercises, prize bingo, dancing, and karaoke. We also have our own fully accessible mini-bus with wheelchair access, and regularly go on trips and outings with our service users. Each year, we carry out over 300 trips and outings. A Number of these have been on a one-to-one basis, to things like dentists, doctors, barbers, hospital visits, and other such practical trips. Our passion is that people with dementia should continue to be an active part of their local community, and our role is very much to do whatever we can to enable that to happen. We do NOT pay Fundraising Managers, people to fundraise or Directors! These roles are carried out entirely by volunteers who take NO expenses!
Thank you for visiting our Regenerate fundraising page. Bringing St Michael's back to life! Our vision is to see St Michael’s transformed from the derelict building it once was to a revitalised hub for the local community. With the reopening of the church in 2015, this has already begun but there is still a long way to go. To this end we have launched Regenerate, a £2.1m scheme to renew this wonderful but neglected building such that it might once again be a source of life to this corner of London. This page will be for various fundraising activities in aid of Regenerate. Thank you so much for your donations. Noah’s Star supports families of premature and sick babies and children within Neonatal Unit’s and Childrens Hospitals. In July 2015, the founders twin boys, Oscar, and Noah, were born at 25 weeks. Tragically, Noah lived for only 30 hours, while Oscar faced various health conditions. Balancing their older child’s needs, coping with the loss of Noah, and managing constant anxiety about Oscar's health created immense challenges for the family. Recognising the struggles faced by families in similar situations, the founder of Noah's Star is determined to use her personal experiences and passion to help others. Our objectives are to: • Provide emotional support for the whole family facing the challenges of premature birth • Share practical advice and coping strategies. • Reduce feelings of isolation by connecting parents with others who have similar experiences. • Promote mental health and well-being for the whole family during and after their NICU stay.
