New England Wood Trust (UK, 283188) Browse events

YTD Raised: n/a

Back in 1980 in the Sussex village of Cuckfield, residents raised funds to purchase the threatened local 27 acre New England Wood. The New England Wood Trust was formed to ‘improve, protect and conserve New England Wood for the public benefit and as a broad-leafed woodland’. Since then the Trust has relied on occasional donations and volunteers’ efforts to meet those objectives. But conservation work, such as all-weather footpaths, fencing and clearance, requires continuous resources. Cuckfield Woodlanders is the community project supporting this work, ensuring that the wood continues as a beautiful nature reserve for the people of Cuckfield. If you enjoy New England Wood and value its contribution to the quality of life in this community, please become a Cuckfield Woodlander now and pledge a donation of £1 per month. Your contribution will be gratefully received and we will be inviting you to an annual Woodlanders summer gathering and guided tour of the wood to reveal its hidden plant and animal life. Please join us in conserving this precious resource. Welcome to Cuckfield Woodlanders. Stephen Holroyd Chairman, New England Wood Trust

Wirksworth Swimming Pool (UK, 1146716) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Wirksworth Swimming Pool is a small 10 by 5 metre pool in the market town of Wirksworth, Derbyshire.Over the last three decades, the pool has been at the heart of the community, with thousands of young children learning to swim here, and hundreds of adults improving their general health and wellbeing in the warm waters and friendly atmosphere. Until recently, it was operated by the local authority, but when they were forced to review budgets, the pool’s future became uncertain. Thankfully, a group of eight local people came together to form a charitable company, which in April 2012, took over running the pool. As trustees, we all share a determination and enthusiasm to make this pool succeed. We want to continue to provide swimming and other water–based activities to the people of Wirksworth and surrounding areas, particularly young people, people with disabilities and older people. We want a welcoming, accessible and affordable venue for people to swim, to learn to swim and to take part in other activities that enhance their health and wellbeing. As a self-funding charity, we can only operate with the support of local people and kind donations from individuals and organisations. Please donate today, if you can, every penny counts. Many thanksWirksworth Swimming Pool Trustees
