Our trained volunteers offer time, friendship and practical support to families in Westminster with at least 1 child under 5. Home-Start believes that children need a happy and secure childhood, and that parents play the key role in giving their children a good start in life and helping them to achieve their full potential. There are times when we all need support and friendship but do not know where to turn. Families may need support for many reasons including social isolation, post-natal depression, disability, bereavement or the illness of a parent or child. Our volunteers help to give encouragement and support to change the pattern of troubled lives.
Young Horizons is a charity which provides young people from areas of deprivation with a weekend sailing experience as part of structured development programme. This development programme provides a diverse and powerful combination of knowledge and skills which are designed to break the cycle of deprivation and low motivation that typically lead to poor life opportunities. Places on the sailing expeditions have to be earned by successfully completing the qualifying stages of the development programme. While the expeditions are intended to be enjoyable, they are certainly not a leisure cruise. The young crew has to learn to collaborate to make the boat “work”; e.g. where to go, how to get there and who does what. This challenging environment reinforces self-confidence and trust in others as well as providing an experience and range of skills completely outside of their normal “comfort zone”. In 2011 Young Horizons aims to provide 8 sailing expeditions with up to 9 young people on each. Despite the fact that our crews are made up of highly qualified volunteers, each expedition still costs approximately £2,000. Our short term goal, therefore, is to raise £16,000, to fund the 2011 season. In the medium term, our goals are to increase the number of sailing trips per seaon and the number of youth charities and youth programs we support. One of our long term goals is to own and run our own boat, to steamline our expenses and maximise operational efficiency, as we increase the number of sailing expeditions we provide. We will, of course, greatly appreciate any support that you could give us for this very worthwhile cause.
The egg is one of the few theatre in the country entirely dedicated to children and young people. By making a gift to the egg, you are helping to grow and sustain a charity that gives thousands of children their first taste of live theatre. The egg presents a regular programme of world-class theatre for young audiences. We ignite children's interest in learning through ground-breaking education projects, and help young people develop skills to enter employment in the arts and elsewhere. The egg believes that all young people should have an opportunity to enjoy and participate in the arts. To ensure this, we offer bursaries to disadvantaged families and work closely with community groups to meet the access needs of all young people. Every gift of any size makes a big difference to our work.

Daytrippers continuously growing list of events includes; the UK’s largest pan-disability football tournament, co-sponsoring London Zoo’s Annual Special Children’s Day, Oscar film premieres showcasing the children’s own films and animations, multi sensory art and music workshops at Colourscape Festival, and a sought after private showing of the annual Christmas Pantomime at The Lyric Theatre. Christ Church Erith, as part of the Diocese of Rochester, is called to proclaim the Gospel of Christ, to maintain the worship of God in our beautiful church, and to inspire in all people an awareness of their duty to God and to the wider community. People gather to worship God and to celebrate the eucharist week by week in this church. Couples exchange their marriage vows before the high altar and bring their children to be baptised in the font. We are proud of our church, listed as grade two star by English Heritage. We want to conserve it for future geneartions to enjoy, above all we want to share the glory of Christ Church with the local community and our visitors. This is costly and any donation you can make will be very much appreciated. Christ Church can seat over 700 people in its spacious nave. It is built of brick in early English Gothic style with an apsidal east end and lofty lancet windows. The architect was james Piers St Aubyn. He also designed the tower which was added in 1915. The tower, spire and bells were a generous gift of the third vicar of Christ Church, Canon A W Boulden. The church is beautified with mural paintings and stained galss windows. Two of the stained glass windows celebrate the coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in 1902
