(UK, 1111243) Browse eventsTom Prince was born and lived in Portsmouth. He was a lovely boy, friendly, caring, polite, good fun and always a pleasure to be with. In February 2003 he was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, an extremely rare form of bone cancer that develops in teenagers during their growth spurt. Over the next 18 months he fought bravely, time after time pulling himself through, determined to carry on and look forward to the future. Sadly, a brain scan confirmed yet more tumours and on 18th October 2004 Tom passed away at home, on the eve of his 16th birthday. The Tom Prince Cancer Trust was set up to keep Tom's memory alive and to raise £1million to fund research into Osteosarcoma and stop others going through the same terrible experience as Tom and his family.

(UK, 1146716) Browse eventsWirksworth Swimming Pool is a small 10 by 5 metre pool in the market town of Wirksworth, Derbyshire.Over the last three decades, the pool has been at the heart of the community, with thousands of young children learning to swim here, and hundreds of adults improving their general health and wellbeing in the warm waters and friendly atmosphere. Until recently, it was operated by the local authority, but when they were forced to review budgets, the pool’s future became uncertain. Thankfully, a group of eight local people came together to form a charitable company, which in April 2012, took over running the pool. As trustees, we all share a determination and enthusiasm to make this pool succeed. We want to continue to provide swimming and other water–based activities to the people of Wirksworth and surrounding areas, particularly young people, people with disabilities and older people. We want a welcoming, accessible and affordable venue for people to swim, to learn to swim and to take part in other activities that enhance their health and wellbeing. As a self-funding charity, we can only operate with the support of local people and kind donations from individuals and organisations. Please donate today, if you can, every penny counts. Many thanksWirksworth Swimming Pool Trustees
