Blackburn Youth Zone (UK, 1135949) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Blackburn Youth Zone is a state of the art youth club based in the heart of Blackburn town centre.  Dedicated to young people aged 8-18, the Zone provides young people with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk too for just 50p.  Since opening in 2012, the Zone now has 3,000 members offering them a safe and exciting environment in which to spend their spare time. Young people, the future of Blackburn with Darwen, are at the heart of the Zone – everything from the actual building to the projects, programmes and activities on offer, right through to the Zone’s staff, have been chosen in partnership with our young people – importantly listening to their opinions and giving them a voice in issues that affect them. As a registered charity, we rely upon funding from outside sources and works in partnership with the Council, local businesses and other bodies to ensure that we remain at the heart of the town and continue to meet and recognise the needs of the young people of Blackburn with Darwen. We need your help to invest in young people, to invest in Blackburn’s future. Karuri School Project Trust (UK, 1139387) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The Karuri School in Kenya opened in January 2011 and currently has about 120 pupils, around 40 of whom are boarders, by virtue of being orphaned or vulnerable. The long term aim is to accommodate 240 children. It is the dream of one remarkable woman, Wangari Cecilia, and is supported by a small group of dedicated, unpaid, volunteers based in Northampton. The Charity pays for the needs of these children, including food, medical costs and the salaries of local teachers. The School now has classrooms, dormitories and kitchen, washing and toilet facilities. Basic electricity has been installed. But there is still much work to be done including: more classrooms, staff living accomodation, better sanitation and water harvesting. The charity is working to raise money for these essential improvements. The Hebe Holmes Memorial Fund exists solely to raise money for the Karuri Project and welcomes your support. Hebe Holmes died in 2012 aged 16. She would have been proud, delighted and amazed that her name and her memory were benefiting children who deserve the opportunity to make their mark in the World. For further information about Karuri School, please click on the blue web-link "Visit our website" under Charity details. How to help? Please consider sponsorship. £35 will pay for one child's education and upkeep for one month. But any amount from £2 a month upwards would be very welcome. You can make a monthly donation using the button under "Support us". Thank you.

Plan International Ireland (UK, 20050764) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Plan International Ireland is a development organisation that advances children's rights and equality for girls. Everyday, we ensure that the children who are most marginalised receive the education and essential services they deserve and the protection and care they are too often denied. Your generous donations go to life-saving projects, such as providing clean water supplies and child immunisation, which make an immediate and lasting impact to the world's poorest children. We know that it is impossible for a child to reach their potential unless their community is developing alongside them. Plan International's commitment to each community means that the health, sanitation and education programmes we establish are long-term and sustainable.
