Wyke Food Bank is a Christian organisation situated in the heart of the community. Our aim is to support local people who are experiencing long term difficulties and short term crises. We distribute emergency food provision and hygiene goods, providing a safe place for people who need to see or confide in a friendly face. We offer prayer to all who visit the food bank. We also run a Baby Bank, providing clothing, toys, nappies, baby food and hygiene goods for children under 5 years old. On non-food bank days there is a Drop In Cafe which provides free hot and cold refreshments, a place for adults to congregate and to access a qualified Benefits and Debt Advisor. During 2019 we helped 598 households with food provision, feeding 1,613 adults and children with the equivalent of over 14,500 meals.
The Northleach Town Trustees are responsible for the administration of several ancient charities in the town, which include the two sets of almshouses, the Northleach Downs, presently farmed, and land to the North and South of the old A40, being a mixture of grazing and woodland. The Trust recently contributed substantially to the cost of the new Northleach playground and was involved in the re-opening of the old A40, which partially runs through land owned by the Trust. It is now developing the meadowlands on land north of the old A40, planting wildflowers and trees and building paved areas for the townsfolk to enjoy the surroundings.

Since 2005 we have supported transgender people through all stages of their exploration of their gender identity. The support we offer provides a lifeline to trans people: “Chrysalis saves lives! When I joined Chrysalis I was in a very dark and confusing place. Chrysalis helped me to come to terms with myself and sort my thoughts out to lead a better life for me and my family.” – Cassie In 2012 we increased our services offered to include confidential safe spaces and counselling to those affected by someone else’s gender identity issues. Our ‘Significant Other Support (SOS)’ groups give parents and partners a place for their own discussions and help. In supporting family units, Chrysalis assists families to stay together or reconnect. Since 2005, we have supported over 500 beneficiaries and around 100 people currently access our services and we aim to increase service provision to another 50 people by the end of 2018. Typically beneficiaries stay with Chrysalis for six months to two years, receiving 16-24 sessions of free one-to-one counselling and many return as volunteers. Our current board of nine trustees has six former beneficiaries and we have a team of 42 volunteers.

Working with many anglers, clubs and syndicates throughout the UK we organise monthly group and individual days at the waterside to share the now widely recognised therapeutic and stress-busting benefits that a day at a river or lake can provide. There are many among the pictures in our gallery who have suffered wounds, both physically and mentally, but their courage in trying to get back to a normal life is only to be admired. With your donations we assist in the recovery of our wounded and remove the stress attached to being a member of HMAF at every opportunity. This is your charity and we only put in to action what many of you have said, with one to one mentored instruction and many anglers giving their time to pass on their skills in all the disciplines of angling. Check the website www.fishingforforces.org and see what so many of you have achieved so far and I assure you that, without exception, all of our 2000+ guests to date (all members of HMAF) have ended the day asking “when is the next one?”. Many are also taking up angling as their primary leisure pursuit. The demand is ever-growing as you are aware so please join us, give generously and let us broaden our horizons and achieve even greater results on your behalf. My thanks. Bill HowellFounder
