YTD Raised: n/a

York Buddhist Centre offers drop-in sessions and courses in Buddhism and meditation in a friendly, supportive environment. Buddhist meditation practices encourage and develop concentration, clarity, emotional positivity and a calm-seeing of the true nature of things and can be used by anyone regardless of religious beliefs. We welcome everyone to our Centre and our online events. We run everything in a spirit of generosity, giving our time freely. We do not charge for classes* so that everyone can access the Buddha’s teaching regardless of their means. We do however ask those who are able to consider making a donation towards the cost of running the Centre - we have no other income and rely on the generosity of those who attend our classes. *except for a small registration fee on some courses

In 2016, a close friend of Niamh and Tim was sectioned under the mental health act after a suicide attempt and was required to stay in hospital until she was deemed well enough to go home. The environment she was in was cold, clinical and not at all conducive to recovery. Having both worked in the arts for many years, Niamh and Tim set about commissioning artists to work with unit communities to transform spaces that provide care to people have experienced a range of issues including schizophrenia, bipolar, psychosis, self-harm, dementia, personality disorders, depression, trauma or abuse. ‘Our patients have loved this process. Some, who have never before engaged in art have cut their leave short to attend sessions, others have wept tears of joy, described the workshops as 'the best day of their lives' and told us the sessions have eased times of utter despair.’ Staff member, Hellingly Centre

Royal Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals Bury Oldham And District Branch (UK, 226624) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The RSPCA Bury, Oldham & District Branch covers a large area, including the towns of Ramsbottom, Rawtenstall, Bacup, Radcliffe, Shaw and Royton. We are entirely self-financing, relying on the generosity of local people. The Bury, Oldham Branch of the RSPCA looks after unwanted cats and dogs. Many of them arrive from homes that, for one reason or another, can no longer look after them; some are left tied up at our gates and some in boxes. Some, sadly, reach us as a result of neglect or cruelty and it takes us many months to rehabilitate these animals. The staff at the Bury, Oldham RSPCA give care and love to the animals in our centre and our knowledgeable staff provide for the individual needs of each animal until the day it can find a kind and loving new home. It costs us over a million pounds per year to run our branch, did you know that is over £114.00 every hour. We rely on YOUR support and would not be able to continue without the generosity of the public. We receive no government or lottery assistance and the majority of the costs to run our animal centre each day, is raised locally. If you would like to support us, or you have room in your home and in your heart to take on a rescue animal, please pay us a visit. We look forward to seeing you. Our animal centre is at 21a Rhodes Bank Oldham OL1 1UA and open everyday from 11.30 am to 3.30pm (except Wednesdays when we are closed all day).
