YTD Raised: £0.00

Clydesdale Community initiatives (CCI) are an award winning social enterprise based Lanark. We have been well recognised for our commitment to creating outstanding opportunities for people facing significant barriers to social inclusion and employment. Clydesdale Community Initiatives was initially set-up in 2002 to enable young people atrisk and adults with mental health issues to develop a derelict site in Lanark, South Lanarkshire. This project was so successful, with both groups benefiting hugely from their involvement, that it was decided they would undertake furtherprojects. Since 2002, Clydesdale Community Initiatives, also known as CCI, have set up a landscaping trading side to the business and have worked on a myriad of projects, all of which have had community or participant input. By incorporating the principle that no one should be defined in terms of their support needs, rather they should be recognised for the contribution they areable to offer, CCI's participants have gained invaluable experience of vocationaland social skills and as a result have increased in their self-confidence and well-being, thusoften reducing long term demands on mainstream services. YTD Raised: £0.00

Scholarships for the UK's Future Engineering Talent An Arkwright Engineering Scholarship is one of the UK's most prestigious accolades for a young aspiring engineer or technical designer, widely respected by university admissions tutors and industry recruitment managers. The Arkwright Scholarships Trust is a charity that identifies, inspires and nurtures future leaders in engineering and related areas of design. We award Engineering Scholarships through rigorous selection to high-calibre school students in year 11 (England and Wales), S4 (Scotland) and year 12 (Northern Ireland) to support them through their 'A' levels or Scottish Highers. Arkwright Scholars are encouraged to go on to study engineering or a related area of design at university, or to take up a high-quality higher apprenticeship; and to pursue a technical career. Arkwright Scholarships consist of an annual financial award to each Scholar and to his/her school, and a range of activities that increase a Scholar's understanding of engineering and the world of work. We are also able to offers a small number of undergraduate engineering Scholarships to our existing Sixth Form Scholars as they move on to university. Arkwright was founded in 1991 and since then we have awarded over 2900 Scholarships. In 2013 we aim to award 350 Scholarships to dynamic, talented young people. We have no capital endowment to draw upon and we rely on the support of people and organisations with an interest in the future of engineering. For more details of our work, please visit:

395 Squadron Stafford Air Cadets (UK, 256391) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Gerald, Roy and Kevin are cyling the C2C route, over three days, from Whitehaven in Cumbria across the Pennines to Tynemouth. They are doing this to help fundraise for Stafford Air Cadets 395 Squadron to replace their minibus. This is not a cycle ride for the faint hearted!!! It will be a tough ride and we are going to put in a lot of training to be able to complete it and raise the much needed funds for the Squadron. These cadets rely on the mini bus to take them on camp and to other activities. Please help!! The C2C starts in the former coal mining and industrial lands of West Cumbria, travels through the stunning scenery of the northern Lake District and heads into Keswick before passing through Penrith and the Eden Valley with its lush valleys and sandstone villages. It then starts the climb up to Hartside and onto the unspoilt Northern Pennines – the roof of England. There then follows an undulating ride as the C2C meanders through old lead mining villages and down into the Durham Dales before entering the old steel town of Consett. From here it’s an easy ride through one of Britain’s old industrial heartlands to the North Sea and Sunderland or Tynemouth. The route is made up of approximately…. Main Roads – mainly short sections through urban areas – 4% Minor Roads - quiet, country roads – 50% Cyclepaths/Off Road – disused railway lines etc – 46% Thank you on behalf of the Civilian Fundraising Committee 395 Squadron (Stafford) Air Cadets
