Our aim is to help travellers to give something back. If you have travelled through the developing world and felt that you would like to help the many small community projects in the countries through which you have travelled, then our charity aims to offer you a way to give something back. Founded by Derek Moore - ex-Tourleader and co-founder of adventure travel company Explore, the Foundation aims to promote sustainable economic growth in economically disadvantaged communities by providing grants to assist in the growth of community projects around the world which promote education or sport, or nurture traditional arts and crafts or music. We work with smaller community projects that larger charities overlook; we work only with existing projects to maximise the security of your donations; and we are all volunteers so 100% of your donations goes to our projects. Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh We are An Nur. We are a charity set up with the purpose of securing and providing a Masjid and Community Centre for the muslims of Harrogate and its District. Currently, although there are several hundred Muslims living in this area, there is no masjid or centre for the community. The nearest mosques are in Leeds, some 13 miles away. We are trying to raise money to buy a suitable building for a Masjid which can fulfil the needs of the local community by providing prayer facilities, a place for education of children and adults, for social gatherings and celebrations during Ramadhan and Eid. We are looking to raise a substantial sum of money and hope you will be able to donate generously for this good cause. No matter how little you can donate it all makes a difference and in shaa Allah we will be rewarded for our efforts by Allah (swt). Please help us to put the first Masjid in Harrogate!
The Helen Atkin Riding for Disabled Group is based in Buxton, Derbyshire. It is a charitable voluntary group that has provided riding therapy for over 30 years to disabled children and adults from the High Peak. The specially selected horses and ponies help to improve riders' physical and mental well being, help them achieve and improve their educational attainment and learn a sport all while having fun. To ensure maximum enjoyment, safety and achievement, specialist equipment is required for some riders. These can be expensive. Trained coaches and volunteers are required to provide tailored sessions for individual riders' needs. The group are required to keep volunteers and coaches updated in safety, safeguarding and matters relating to providing therapy using the horse. The group do not own their own horses but hire them from the Buxton Riding School, where the group is based. This enables the group to have flexibility of the size of horse or pony to suit the rider but also enables the more able riders to challenge their equestrian skills. The group is planning to expand in the future which will make greater financial demands on the group. The group has to raise every penny to enable them to provide riding therapy to mentally and physically disabled children and adults in the High Peak area. Please donate to support our cause, and improve lives. Thank you so much. Charity No: 1074129
Beannachar is a training centre in Aberdeenshire for 36 young adults with learning disabilities aged 17 to 30 (18 residential students;18 day placements). We support each person to reach their fullest potential and become as independent as possible for their next step in life. Students take part in structured work sessions such as workshops in weaving, woodwork & sculpture; organic farming; maintenance of gardens & woodlands; and ‘Tools for Self-Reliance’ (national partnership where we refurbish old tools and send to African countries). Students also contribute to running their homes such as cooking meals, and have time in the evenings/weekends for exercise, hobbies and outings.
