Coventry Children's Boot Fund (UK, 214524) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

The Boot fund was founded in the late 19th century to provide boots to necessitous children in order that they may attend school regularly. This remains the purpose of the Charity although today we provide properly measured and fitted school shoes, mainly Clarke’s school shoes from a quality shoe retailer who gives the charity a beneficial discount. Our area of operation is to Schoolchildren attending Coventry Schools therefore the age range of recipients is 4 years to 18 years of age. We will also provide suitable footwear for very recent school leavers to enable them to attend interviews for employment or further education. Every year we provide New School Shoes for nearly 600 needy Coventry Schoolchildren. The appeals are received form the Coventry Schools who are aware that a family is struggling, and a caring teacher has noticed that a child has worn out, ill-fitting or unsuitable footwear that parents or guardian cannot afford to replace. By providing new replacement school shoes for those needy children we can substantially increase the wellbeing of a child, improve school attendance, alleviate low self-esteem and bullying, plus improve the life chances of those children most in need.
