Thank you for considering supporting the Olney-Newton Link. We are at the Olney end of the Link, a small town in North Buckinghamshire, at the other end are our friends in Newton, a small community in Sierra Leone. Our Link is like a many-layered twinning. We aim to advance education (we have provided toilets and books for schools) and helped to relieve poverty (weve funded the rebuilding of war-damaged homes and recently a Skills Centre where vital skills can be passed on, to help the community help themselves out of poverty). We have made a start, but, with the help of more donations, we want to do more. Communication has had to be mainly by mobile phone which is costly and unreliable. We want to bring the internet to Newton and to provide generators to power computers, drawing the people closer to us and to the global community with all the that will bring. Currently we are raising funds to enable the town of Newton to build 4 Community toilets. £5 will pay for the schools to post packages of letters from their students to ours. £12 will provide petrol to run a generator for the Skills Centre for one day. £15 will pay the cost of transporting goods we provide from the ports to Newton. £33 will pay for a wooden chair and table (made in Sierre Leone) for the Skills Centre. £60 will pay for a reconditioned PC for the Skills Centre. £65 will pay for one metal disk and chair. £100 will pay for shipping a carton of second hand books, medical supplies, reconditioned computers etc to Sierre Leone.

Our projects include Alsager Community Support Centre and Foodbank, which have been established for over 5 years, offering information, advice, practical and emotional support, and guidance for local people in any kind of need, completely free of charge. Our volunteers are co-ordinating local voluntary efforts to support the most vulnerable people during this Coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak, including those who are forced to isolate to remain safe, and those who were already experiencing difficulties and hardship before the virus struck. We would love to receive your support in raising money to help local people in need, who may have lost their jobs, to provide them with food, utilities, or other necessary expenses in this time of crisis. ALL the money raised will go to help these people, and anything left over when this is all over will be used for the continued work of Alsager Community Support Centre and Foodbank. 2021 signifies one of the biggest milestones for both Langley Prep School at Taverham Hall and the British Heart Foundation. The school will officially reach its 100th year in education in September 2021, whilst the BHF will be marking their 60th birthday this year. Having regularly raised funds for the BHF and worked together on a number of fronts, it felt very fitting to join forces at such a special time. As such, we are looking to raise funds for the BHF’s tireless work to improve treatment and care for people affected by heart and circulatory disease as well as for a special 100th year celebrations school fund to support bursary provision and further improvement of facilities throughout the school. All proceeds raised via this Just Giving page will be shared equally between both. We warmly invite you to support the BHF and the school at this very special time.
