2021 signifies one of the biggest milestones for both Langley Prep School at Taverham Hall and the British Heart Foundation. The school will officially reach its 100th year in education in September 2021, whilst the BHF will be marking their 60th birthday this year. Having regularly raised funds for the BHF and worked together on a number of fronts, it felt very fitting to join forces at such a special time. As such, we are looking to raise funds for the BHF’s tireless work to improve treatment and care for people affected by heart and circulatory disease as well as for a special 100th year celebrations school fund to support bursary provision and further improvement of facilities throughout the school. All proceeds raised via this Just Giving page will be shared equally between both. We warmly invite you to support the BHF and the school at this very special time.

Our current HQ has been our place for Scouting for over 68 years. It’s kept us warm and dry through everything, but it’s definitely seen better days. We’re getting to the point where a lick of paint and some elbow grease just won’t cut it. Our trusty building is slowly but surely falling apart.
Here at e:merge we engage with young people who are surround by deep and extensive poverty. We see extrodinary demonstrations of impoverished young people who come to us from homes limited by their situations and we are priviledged to see them grow, develop and achieve through support and encourgaement regardless of their situation. The BD4 area of Bradford, where we do the majority of our work, has a large amount of deprivation and many of our young people face considerable challenges for their lives. This is inclusive of but not exlusively aspects such as limited education, prospecst of prison and the challneges of coming from broken homes with very little support. Many of the young people we engage with show signs of low self asteem and therefore demonstrate a considerable lack of motivation to achieve and therefore often find themselves trapped in a cycle of poverty that they see as normality.

Ongar Music Club was founded in 1975 in the small market town of Ongar in Essex by a group of local music-enthusiasts. They presented numerous concerts, and in 1984 founded the prestigious Essex Young Musician of the Year Competition, under the generous patronage of John Lill CBE. A great many past prize winners have gone on to enjoy successful professional careers. In addition to presenting this renowned competition, the club continued to present concerts, and in 2019 launched a series of lunchtime concerts called Soundbites! With the restrictions of the Covid Pandemic the club adapted their programme schedule, and moved their concerts online. LIVE LOUNGE was created, a season of concerts exclusively on YouTube, not only for members and friends of Ongar Music Club, but also as a Community outreach programme for Care Homes in the UK, bringing music into the homes of all those who are isolated due to Covid restrictions. Many famous artists have performed in concert and given musical talks for the Club over the years. These include Dame Eva Turner, Sir Peter Pears, Stephen Kovacevich, Denis Matthews, Steven Isserlis, Richard Baker, Fritz Spiegl, Benjamin Grosvenor and The Fairer Sax. The Club was also instrumental in the formation of Ongar Jazz Club. It is this diversity of activity which has ensured the Club’s ongoing success.

Friends of Chernobyl's Children (FOCC) Medway is an independent charity supporting children in Belarus who are affected by the Chernobyl disaster. We are a small charity, supporting children in Belarus who were, and still are, affected by the Chernobyl disaster. We do this by providing respite and care for a small group of children from areas in Belarus which are most affected. Children are welcomed into the homes of host families for 4 weeks each year, for a maximum period of 5 years.During their month’s stay, each child visits a dentist and optician and takes home with them a year’s supply of vitamins to supplement their meagre diets back in Belarus.Although the aim of the visit is to improve their health, the children have a month of fun, partaking in many activities and outings. They go home with happy memories and the knowledge that there are people in England that love and care for them. Please donate to support our cause.
