The Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants supports over 170 people every year. We work to support vulnerable people through times of transition in their lives, and our vision is to provide all refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants in London access to the services and support they need to enable them to lead full, happy, and healthy lives as part of their local community.We provide holistic, integrated services and activities that meet the complex, interlinked, severe, and multiple needs of our clients. Our services include:- English language classes; - advice and support to enable people to overcome issues such as poverty, homelessness, and lack of access to healthcare;- arts-based activities;- crisis support;- a safe and welcoming space.Our work helps to reduce mental distress, improve educational and employment potential, improve independence and integration, and reduce isolation. We believe in looking after the whole person - attending to each person’s practical, emotional, psychological and social wellbeing. Established in 1984 and based at Sheddingdean Community Centre in Burgess Hill, Windmills Opportunity Playgroup takes just 20 children per session. A high staff ratio ensures that the best possible start is provided to all children, including those who require extra support. The current intake of children reflects this ethos with children with a range of needs, as well as those who are more able.  All the children benefit from caring, nurturing staff and volunteers as well as support from outside agencies such as speech and language therapists. Windmills Opportunity Playgroup aims to ensure that all the children leave as happy, secure and confident individuals, ready for the challenges of big school! Windmills needs to fund raise on an ongoing basis to provide the support the children need. Please help us to keep this unique and much needed playgroup operating by making a donation or raising money through a sponsored event. Blood Bikes Scotland are a dedicated team of volunteer motorcyclists, who commit their time to provide a service for NHS Lothian, Fife, Forth Valley and Scottish Borders. Using a fleet of fully liveried motorbikes, we offer this unscheduled service free of charge to the NHS as an alternative to taxis or couriers as a way of ‘giving something back’. We deliver small urgent items including blood samples, donor baby milk, equipment, medication that are urgently requiring to be moved from one site to another or from a patients home in the community. By using motorbikes, we are able to move these items quicker than four wheeled vehicles which is vital as many items are time critical.
