It has sporting sections (Darts, football, golf, angling and snooker which are all very active). It operates minibuses for its member, has trips for the elderly, supports bereavement, makes donations to other local charitable and voluntary organisations and provides cultural and musical entertainment for the community. It operates a community café that is very well used and provides catering for a number of functions. The rooms can be hired out at very low rates (often free dependent on who may be using it) to any local people and groups and it is well used by the Fife Council. The charity is run by a band of volunteers who are the four trustees who give a huge amount of time and work with a management committee in order to undertake these activities and provide rooms for the local community. The principal source of income to operate the charity comes from its wholly owned trading business Glenrothes Recreation Centre and Social Club which operates the bar facility (and gaming facility) the entire profits of which are gift-aided to the charity every year. In addition to the gift-aiding the profits an occupational licence is also paid by the Club to the Charity in the sum of £20,200 per annum.

(UK, 1159197) Browse eventsYoung Womens Outreach Project has been running for 21 years. We work with young women and young mothers in Gateshead aged 11-19yrs. We support, guide young women through crisis in their lives. These Crises can be finding out that they are pregnant, problems or struggling in schools, mental health issues, rape, self harm, lack of confidence and self belief, violence or sexual exploitation, the list goes on and on. Many of these young women and mothers are referred into the project by a vast range of professionals or themselves. Once we receive a referral we visit young woman to assess needs and ensure that we are the right people to support them. We are often involved with safeguarding and we ensure our role is about supporting that young woman through the process, with open and an honest approach no matter how difficult. We offer one to one support and group work programmes, and often signpost to other services and professionals who met their needs. Intervention time can be as little as 6 weeks to 18 months. They feel less alone, listened to and supported in issues that are affecting their lives at the time. They develop positive relationships, gain support; they learn coping mechanisms and strategies. Progression leads to young women gaining accreditation, many of the young women who attend do not have any qualifications due to the complexity and the issues in their lives. We aim to re- engage young women and mothers back into education, training or employment.

(UK, 1125748) Browse eventsMaking a difference to rural communities throughout SuffolkWe exist to help rurally isolated people in Suffolk to access services and information to improve their lives, health and wellbeing. To bring people together within communities to create local support mechanisms. This is a free service that is accessible to everyone. Why the community needs this charity Our project provides an innovative solution to the real problem of rural isolation. Loss of services in rural communities can leave residents without any means of connecting with each other, this can lead to low mood and loneliness. Accessing information is almost impossible in these situations. Our project creates a social focus with a free mobile community cafe/information centre, which offers support and the chance to meet and talk with fellow residents in the same situation. Results and outcomes Starting in 2003 as a voluntary organisation, with just one small caravan, demand for our project service has caused our project to grow enormously. We are now a registered charity with two caravans and a mobilitiy bus visiting around 80 rural communities each year. We now also run Golden Age Fairs, these alone have lead to over 1000 individuals that have been linked into services that have improved their health and wellbeing.
