The charity which was established under a mining trust provides a major community hall for the inhabitants of Glenrothes (both those who formerly worked in the mining industry and the local community generally). It has sporting sections (Darts, football, golf, angling and snooker which are all very active). It operates minibuses for its member, has trips for the elderly, supports bereavement, makes donations to other local charitable and voluntary organisations and provides cultural and musical entertainment for the community. It operates a community café that is very well used and provides catering for a number of functions. The rooms can be hired out at very low rates (often free dependent on who may be using it) to any local people and groups and it is well used by the Fife Council. The charity is run by a band of volunteers who are the four trustees who give a huge amount of time and work with a management committee in order to undertake these activities and provide rooms for the local community. The principal source of income to operate the charity comes from its wholly owned trading business Glenrothes Recreation Centre and Social Club which operates the bar facility (and gaming facility) the entire profits of which are gift-aided to the charity every year. In addition to the gift-aiding the profits an occupational licence is also paid by the Club to the Charity in the sum of £20,200 per annum.

If parents can't cope, children suffer. The impact of which lasts a lifetime. Our volunteers who are recruited and trained in the local community, make life-changing differences to local families each week- giving parents hope for the future, and their children, a childhood they deserve. In an ideal world, you wouldn't need a charity like Home-Start. Parents would be able to raise their children free from difficulties. But life isn't like that. Many parents are struggling with a whole host of issues- poverty, poor mental health, domestic abuse, isolation, and lack of family support networks. And this is where Home-Start steps in. Each week our volunteers visit families in their own homes, offering a range of emotional and practical support. It's just a few hours each week, but those few hours can make an impact that lasts a lifetime. With your donations, we can reach out to even more children and families who are struggling.

We aim to deliver projects to give better opportunities to communities in countries that don’t have the same privileges as we do. This could be anything from improving education facilities to providing medical facilities. We will build lasting relationships and ensure each project is sustainable.
Aberdeen Christian Fellowship is an independent church with an overseas focus, including India. Please help us raise funds through ACF towards two projects in India. The projects based in Delhi (Bethesda Children’s Network) and Mumbai (Maharastra Baptist Society Children’s Hostel) support children who are either orphans or street children from extremely marginalised communities looked after by foster parents, while the women are former sex workers who are provided with basic education and tailoring skills enabling them to seek alternative employment.
