However, our faith has led us to make our mosque into a vibrant community Centre for all the people of the area, of all faiths and none. We manage an inclusive, caring environment for children and adults making a positive contribution to their lives and, in turn, encouraging and supporting them to make a real difference to the district and society generally, such that Manchester can be proud of them. This Mosque and community Centre was established in Cheetham Hill in the 1970’s and moved to its present site in 1990. We are a non-sectarian based Mosque open to everyone. The Centre is part of UKIM which is the oldest Islamic organisation in the U.K. and has been operating for over 55 years. We have prayer facilities for men and women and cater for those with disabilities. We have over 1000 people attend the Centre on most days of the week and over 3000 attendees on Friday’s. BFS (Bristol Free School) is a vibrant, successful and popular secondary school with sixth form serving the community of North West Bristol. It was set up in 2011 following a long campaign from local parents. It's grown from 80 to 1080 students in 8 years . The BFS School Fund has been set up to enable our families to make a voluntary donation to the school to enable some of those "extras" for our students that we might not otherwise afford. The fund supports extra-curricular activities and specifically the development of social space. As our school is on a regenerated site, there is a need and plenty of scope to create and develop an outside environment with zones suitable for all our students' needs.

Special Olympics Coventry currently provides training for gymnastics and swimming but with a view to offer other sports such as athletics and football. Gymnastics and swimming training are provided by coaches who are passionate about wanting to help people with learning disabilities. Our 6 gymnasts currently train in Coventry at the Leisure Centre in the City Centre, but with closure looming there is worry about where our gymnasts will train. Our 10 swimmers train weekly at the Excel Centre in Coventry. Our parents pay for the training venue, pay entry to competitions and costs involved with travelling and accommodation, leotards, swimwear and tracksuits whilst the coaches give their time voluntarily to running the club. Costs are escalating and there is concern that it will become too expensive for parents and newcomers to join without donations. Special Olympics Coventry continues to be enthusiastic about wanting to give people with learning disabilities within the Coventry an opportunity to become involved in sport and enrich their lives. Special Olympics Coventry offers “opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.” We want to continue to provide and develop this for the people of Coventry. Campaigns To raise funds for new competition leotards, swimwear and tracksuits To raise funds for the club to be able to send athletes to the World Games 2015 in Los Angeles so raising the profile of Special Olympics in the Coventry area.
