Bristol Debt Advice Centre (UK, 900311) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Bristol Debt Advice Centre (BDAC) is celebrating 21 years of improving lives by tackling financial problems. We provide free, independent and specialist debt advice to people in financial hardship. We also have an Energy Advice Project to support individuals with gas and electricity debts, as well as a Money Mentoring service for individials and groups who want to build up their confidence and skills in managing their money. Debt advice can be life-saving... every day we are approached by individuals who are facing financial crisis because of unexpected changes to the life circumstances, such as relationship break-up, redundancy and bereavement. We give individuals access to free legal representation when they need it most. Funding for debt advice is under threat. Help us to continue helping those who need it most.

Northleach Town Charities (UK, 203544) Browse events

YTD Raised: n/a

The Northleach Town Trustees are responsible for the administration of several ancient charities in the town, which include the two sets of almshouses, the Northleach Downs, presently farmed, and land to the North and South of the old A40, being a mixture of grazing and woodland. The Trust recently contributed substantially to the cost of the new Northleach playground and was involved in the re-opening of the old A40, which partially runs through land owned by the Trust. It is now developing the meadowlands on land north of the old A40, planting wildflowers and trees and building paved areas for the townsfolk to enjoy the surroundings.

Wyke Food Bank is a Christian organisation situated in the heart of the community. Our aim is to support local people who are experiencing long term difficulties and short term crises. We distribute emergency food provision and hygiene goods, providing a safe place for people who need to see or confide in a friendly face. We offer prayer to all who visit the food bank. We also run a Baby Bank, providing clothing, toys, nappies, baby food and hygiene goods for children under 5 years old. On non-food bank days there is a Drop In Cafe which provides free hot and cold refreshments, a place for adults to congregate and to access a qualified Benefits and Debt Advisor. During 2019 we helped 598 households with food provision, feeding 1,613 adults and children with the equivalent of over 14,500 meals.

Doorstep Library Network (UK, 1158197) Browse events

YTD Raised: £0.00

Doorstep Library brings books and the magic of reading directly to the homes of children in some of London's most disadvantaged areas. Direct into their homes, volunteers read with the children, lend them books, befriend the families and offer support. As a charity we're unique in this. We do it because poor reading skills are inextricably linked to economic disadvantage and reduced life possibilities. Our work improves not just reading skills, but confidence, self-esteem, articulacy, social integration, academic performance and even long-term employment prospects. Words have the power to take children places, not just in their minds, but in their lives.
