34th Reigate (Meadvale) Scout Group The Scout Hut Meadvale Village Hall Somerset Road Meadvale Redhill Surrey RH1 6LT Who we are The 34th Reigate (Meadvale) Scout Group is one of 14 groups in the Reigate and Redhill District of Surrey. The Group was founded in 1930 at St. John's School by the choirmaster of St John's Church and have been serving the community of Meadvale since moving to the centre of the village in 1935. What we do We run weekly Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers Scouting sections at the scout hut and camp regularly around the South East and beyond. We are entirely volunteer-led and provide Everyday Adventure for 6 - 18 year olds. Girvan and District Great War Project is working in partnership with Legion Scotland Maybole Branch and Le Souvenir Francais to help raise funds to erect a permanent memorial to the 31 crew members of the French vessel, the SS Longwy which was torpedoed and sank off the Ayrshire coast in November 1917. All 31 crew were lost and no memorial exists for them either in here or France. Only 2 graves exist and the memorial would be placed between the 2 French crosses in Girvan Doune Cemetery. The remainder of the crew lie in eternity out at sea. There are tens of thousands of Scots who lie in France from WW1. Lets show our mark of respect to these boys who lie far from home.

Every donation we receive helps us to continue being there for all those who get in touch, whether it be by phone, email or text. - Only 1 in 5 calls are from someone feeling suicidal. - 70% of people surveyed felt it helped them cope. - 65% of people surveyed felt more understood and less anxious after talking to us. - 74% felt that contact with us helped them take the decision not to end their life. We are entirely volunteer-led and rely on the generosity of public donations to do our work. Therefore, fundraising has a vital role to play in our branch and we are extremely grateful to anyone who chooses to donate or raise funds for us.
