STAR's vision is safer, more connected and resilient families and communities where opportunity is equal and diversity is embraced. They provide a holistic approach offering a varied programme of group and individual support to individuals and families within their Community. At the heart of STAR's success is their volunteer led Drop In which takes place Monday to Thursday 9.30am-1pm. The Drop In establishes an open door so people can seek help or advice on any issue but essentially also functions as a social place where people can be themselves, without condition or expectation, thus reducing isolation, stigma, and nurturing peer support. STAR support the community and the aspiration of partners with a mixed programme of therapeutic, educational, and fun groups and workshops. From creativity and culture, to health awareness and parenting. STAR also provides support, counselling and befriending to its service users. Referrals are welcomed from partner agencies, friends or simply when someone walks in. STAR work with individuals to tailor supports that suit that individual and what they need at their own pace. All STAR’s work is robustly evaluated and monitored and feedback from the community, partners and staff shape the development of everything they do. STAR’s strong and creative team has a passion for the work of the project which is fundamental to it's continued success.
