(UK, 1186238) Browse eventsHow Many Elephants is a multi award winning charity raising awareness of the plight of elephants in Africa, by closing the gap between scientific data and human connection. Few people know that 96 African elephants are poached each day for their ivory. At this astonishing rate they could be extinct in the wild in the next decade. Founder, Holly Budge, a world record adventurer, conservationist and speaker, has turned this disheartening statistic into a powerful art exhibition to raise awareness and to raise funds to support anti-poaching projects. The How Many Elephants exhibition displays 35,000 elephants, the current annual poaching toll in Africa, in a striking floor to ceiling display using a monochrome palette to reflect the indifference of these animals in their fate. Part of the originality of this exhibition is in it's approach to avoid gruesome and shocking imagery to portray the facts. To actually see this data visually is very impactful. It is not about scaring people or assigning blame, it’s about raising awareness of the enormity of the poaching crisis. Holly has helped raise over £300k for a diverse range of charities through her adventures and charity work so far.

Streetwork’s mission is to help people find a life off the streets. Established in Edinburgh over 25 years ago to work with young people on the streets, Streetwork has developed its services over the years to reach out to help more people who are among the most vulnerable inEdinburgh;people who have complex needs and who are sleeping rough, who experience homelessness, are at risk of homelessness. We know that people who might benefit from our support may not seek it out and so we do not wait for people to come to us, we take our services out onto the streets of Edinburgh every day seeking them out. We strive to build trusting relationships on the streets that allow us to engage people in our ongoing support; this support involves helping people to identify their needs, to plan how these needs can be met and to help them achieve their goals. Our staff work hard to build positive, trusting relationships through which they can help people to make positive changes in their lives.
