We rescue dogs from the UK and overseas. Any dog, for any reason, from anywhere. We are staffed entirely by volunteers, the charity can dedicate 100% of its donations to helping dogs in need. The charity has an unrivalled ethical and professional approach. We are members of Kids Around Dogs, the Institute of Modern Dog Training, the Pet Professional Guild, the Pet Industry Advocacy International and the UK Dog Behaviour & Training Charter. The year goal is to identify and purchase land within Hampshire to enable a rehabilitation and training centre to be built. We welcome all and any help with identifying a suitable field! Ideally around the Fareham area! The charity has been successful largely due to the good will of some amazing foster carers who are willing to care for rescue dogs in their own home. We are always desperate for more foster carers and welcome applications from dog loving people within Hampshire and surrounding areas

Eating Stones Fund (UK, 1132789) Browse events

YTD Raised: £143.00

The Eating Stones Fund UK was established in April 2007 by an international development student from Leeds University, after spending time working with a social development group and HIV/AIDs clinic in an area of slum dwelling on the edge of the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. The people in Kenyas slums are affected by poverty and sickness every day of their lives. As a result adults are unable to work, children become malnourished and many are orphaned. They desperately need help. Currently operating an orphanage which is home to 48 of Kenyas most vulnerable young people along with a primary school, clinic and with several community projects in the pipe line Eating Stones has become well known as a project that is succeeding in its mission to relieve poverty and provide the opportunity of a better life for those who would otherwise be without. At Eating Stones we feel that country, city, town, community and individual specific programmes are key in relieving poverty which is why all of our work in Kenya is tailored to the particular needs of all involved. As a relatively small charity we greatly rely on the hard work of those who put on events or collect money through sponsorship. If you would like to help please have a look at our website or send us an email. WWW.EATINGSTONES.CO.UK    [email protected]

We are a friendly group of volunteer parents and carers of deaf children in Trafford. We organise regular activities for deaf children and their families. We meet to chat through issues, offer support, gain tips and to give the children an opportunity to socialise with their hearing impaired peers which they may not get much chance to do in a mainstream school. We also organise a range of events throughout the year including sporting activities, arts and crafts, theatre trips, horse riding and parties! Often free of charge or nominal fees, these events really allow the children time to interact with each other whilst doing fun activities. We are constantly fundraising either by taking part in sponsored runs, bake sales or applying for community funding to allow us to put on a range of interesting events.

Gurkha Welfare Trust Jersey (UK, 431) Browse events

YTD Raised: £140.00

Why support the Gurkha's in Nepal? Gurkha's defended our freedom and liberty during two World Wars and many other conflicts, fighting alongside British soldiers. Unlike the regular Army Gurkha's don't receive any Army pension and rely on our support. The 2015 earthquake in Nepal devastated their infrastructure and this county remains amongst the poorest in the world. In August 2017 Nepalese villages suffered from floods. From many Nepalese villages it requires a two-day hike to reach any medical centre, needless to say unfortunately many don't make it back to their homes. GWTJ was formed in 2014 to honour the Island’s unique relationship with one of the British Army’s most respected regiments. There are known to be at least nine ex-British Army officers living in Jersey who served with Gurkha units. GWTJ works closely with the Gurkha Welfare Trust UK, the leading Gurkha welfare charity, relieving poverty and distress among retired Gurkha soldiers and their families. The Jersey Overseas Aid Commission generously donates another £1 for every £1 raised, doubling your support. We have no administrative overheads and no paid employees or paid Trustees, so all funds raised go directly to the Gurkhas.
