Triple A's (UK, SC045020) Browse events

YTD Raised: £145.00

Triple As is an Autism Peer Support Group, where even our support workers, volunteers and executive trustees are autistic. We are aimed at people with autism above the age of 14. There's no upper age limit or other restriction other than the member must be on the autistic spectrum. Our main aim is to locate individuals who have become socially isolated, and help them surmount their oppressive anxiety and depression. When autistic minds are nurtured and well looked after, they can realise their potential. Barriers to this are:Developmental delays get confused for developmental impossibilities - so education stops.Melt downs are avoided at all costs. Avoiding melt downs is not a bad strategy, but this tends towards avoiding all stressful situations full stop rather than building up tolerance. This leads to significantly limited choices and exclusion. As autistic children become autistic grown ups they find themselves more and more socially isolated, and forgotten. The key to our success at Triple As, is that we take teens, and older, and help them build tolerance towards the world. Through autistic peer support and mentoring we find inherent understanding that knows when to push and when to provide respite. We acknowledge the harsh realities of life then gently encourage bespoke coping mechanisms. Fen Ditton Recreation Ground Trust (UK, 288528) Browse events

YTD Raised: £145.00

Fen Ditton is a Conservation Village, it is a popular spot for visitors providing off road circular walking and running routes from Cambridge city centre and further, to Ely. We are raising funds to rebuild and develop the Pavilion. The existing building was built by villagers in the early 1980’s but has structural problems causing damp and poor insulation. The Recreation Ground and Pavilion supports a competitive Cricket Club (juniors and seniors) and Football club and has an active Village Community. However the layout, number and size of changing rooms do not meet the current standards of the England and Wales Cricket Board or Football Association and Community use of the functions room is limited due to its small size and minimal kitchen facilities. The new Pavilion shown above will be modelled on the existing and provide improvement in the structural fabric and internal environment. It will provide changing facilities in-line with current national standards. A larger community room with improved kitchen facilities will increase its utility across a range of community activities from hosting community and local society meetings to regular activity groups across all ages and private hire. It will also provide a substantially improved Events Base for broader and larger community events such as Village Fairs and Sponsored Runs/Walks.

Meider Jonno Asha (UK, SCO33691) Browse events

YTD Raised: £145.00

We are a small charity working in Dhaka city, Bangladesh, amongst the poorest people of the slums and busties, bringing hope into desperate lives. Asha began by providing basic literacy training to street girls, offering them a first step on the ladder of self-respect and hope. Over the years more than 300 illiterate teenagers have received basic education that they would otherwise have been denied. Many of these girls have now gone on to receive work-training and experience in one of our Next Steps Asha training centres. Here they learn practical skills and produce a variety of craft goods and hand-embroidered fashion accessories. We are completely dependent on the kind donations of our supporters and funds raised through the sale of Next Steps Asha products. All the money we receive goes directly towards the cost of maintaining the education centres, paying wages to girls and local staff and to the provision of medical help and support in cases of need.   Please visit the Meider Jonno Asha website for more information, up to date news on our projects, and stories of lives that have been changed.

YTD Raised: £144.00

Phoenix Rehoming is a charity based in Hampshire and operates in the South of England. We were awarded the prestigious “Rescue of the Year 2021” award at the Animal Star Awards held in Portsmouth in February 2022. The charity was established in 2016 and has now rehomed 1516 dogs. We rescue dogs from the UK and overseas. Any dog, for any reason, from anywhere. We are staffed entirely by volunteers, the charity can dedicate 100% of its donations to helping dogs in need. The charity has an unrivalled ethical and professional approach. We are members of Kids Around Dogs, the Institute of Modern Dog Training, the Pet Professional Guild, the Pet Industry Advocacy International and the UK Dog Behaviour & Training Charter. The year goal is to identify and purchase land within Hampshire to enable a rehabilitation and training centre to be built. We welcome all and any help with identifying a suitable field! Ideally around the Fareham area! The charity has been successful largely due to the good will of some amazing foster carers who are willing to care for rescue dogs in their own home. We are always desperate for more foster carers and welcome applications from dog loving people within Hampshire and surrounding areas
