Bear Cottage is the only children's hospice in NSW and provide support, respite and end of life care for terminally ill children and their families. Located on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Bear Cottage is a medically supported home away from home. At Bear Cottage our special children find love, care, laughter, fun and support. This holistic approach is achieved through regular respite, specialised camps, end-of-life care, bereavement support and much more. Bear Cottage is there for every child, parent, or family who needs us and they will never have to pay a cent. But there is a cost. It's currently costs more then $3.2 million a year to keep our doors open and this is raised throughthe generosity of people like you. Thank you for helping us to provide a little happiness today.

They provide precious care and support in the last stage of life that is completely free from charge. Wedgetail Retreat Hospice is part of the not-for-profit organisation, Tweed Palliative Support Inc, whose volunteers provide Home Hospice Care. We urgently need a hand to fund Nursing staff for the Wedgetail Retreat Hospice 24/7. Your donation will make a huge difference in the lives of many. Firstchance is a not for profit organisation which operates both Early Childhood Intervention and School Aged Programs. Firstchance runs its programs with a combination of government grants, parent fees and money raised through fundraising activities. All Firstchance programs have a family-centred approach to the provision of services. We operate according to the philosophy that all children should receive the best possible opportunities to promote optimal development. The family-centred focus requires that all aspects of the program operate in the context of viewing the child as part of a family whose goals, needs and preferences are to be respected. Firstchance has been operating a quality early childhood intervention program at the Special Education Centre at the University of Newcastle since 1978. The program caters for the needs of infants and young children (aged 0 – 6 years) with disabilities and their families. Families from Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens can access programs which are conducted in: *the Special Education Centre on the campus of the University of Newcastle *Salamander Bay *Belmont *Raymond Terrace *family homes (where families meet the Home Base program criteria) *local preschools or child care centres (upon referral) The early childhood intervention program aims to provide for the developmental, social and educational needs of children (from birth to school entry) who have a diagnosed disability or whose development is delayed or is considered to be at risk of delay. Children who require support with their social and emotional development may also be eligible for inclusion.

We provide a very special kind of loving care for persons with life-limiting illnesses. We also extend our support to families and carers, ensuring a holistic approach. At Hospice you will be cared for by highly skilled dedicated and caring healthcare professionals including qualified Registered Nurses, your own GP, senior palliative care doctors and consultants. All of these are assisted by a wonderful team of caring volunteers in a home-like environment with easy access to gardens and areas for families to gather.
