One hundred Australians are reported missing every day, and while most are found quickly, many remain missing long term. Research shows at least 12 people are directly affected when someone goes missing - financially, emotionally, and psychologically. Half a million Australians are impacted by this issue every year. Missing Persons Advocacy Network (MPAN) was established in 2013 by Loren O’Keeffe, whose brother Dan went missing in July 2011. His disappearance prompted the biggest social media campaign of its kind: Dan Come Home. MPAN’s objective is to create greater awareness for missing persons and offer practical support to those left behind. Missing persons is a community issue that requires the collaborative efforts of media, all levels of government, the corporate sector, police and the public. MPAN hopes to harness the people power exemplified by the Dan Come Home campaign and provide much-needed support to the hundreds of thousands left behind each year.
