As the lead agency of the National Suicide Prevention Coalition, we build and facilitate partnerships to reduce the stigma around mental illness and suicide, and to assist the healing for people with lived experience of suicide attempts and suicide.

CHI.L.D is the only organisation in Australia to offer multidisciplinary (speech language pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology as well as specialised teaching and music therapy) support to children with severe primary speech and language disorder. The disability, language disorder, is poorly understood by parents, teachers and the community at large. It carries significant risk of school failure and poor social and emotional outcomes in adult life. CHI.L.D has been operating educational programs for children faced with this disability for almost 40 years. At CHI.L.D we help children and young people to speak....and find their voice.

We empower children Victoria-wide regardless of age, ethnicity, culture, health status or socio-economic background.  Our programs focus on early intervention, capacity building and empowerment, resulting in safe choices and positive behaviours. LEV promote attaining, maintaining and sustaining health – mind and body; we provide information which influences health-related decisions; we actively encourage the pursuit of healthy activities and we assist in the development of a healthy attitude to wellness – we position ourselves as a respected authority on the welfare and wellbeing of children. Our program is age appropriate, evidence-based and current and is delivered in specially designed Mobile Learning Centres which are towed to schools. The MLCs contain advanced technology to enable interactive teaching. This experience provides a memory for the child – instilled within the memory of the experience is the message related to the session content which may be related to nutrition; drugs; feelings; bullying; alcohol and tobacco; the human body and cyber safety. We deliver the LE message and program to approximately 140,000 children in Victoria via a team of 25 specially trained Educators who facilitate the sessions and as we work in partnership with schools, we are pleased to provide support to teachers via advice and the provision of resources, enabling ongoing, reiterative education in the classroom.  Operations are supported by office staff and management, and more than 100 volunteers, including a dedicated and high-functioning Board of Directors who work tirelessly due to their belief and passion.

Everyone in our organisation is heavily involved at the coalface, running camps and volunteering their time to help young people in need.
