We are based at Springfield Lakes in the city of Ipswich, Queensland. Greater Springfield is one of the largest growing communities in Australia and from 2010 the teenage population in our region was more than 5,000 and growing. The youth population is expecting a growth spike over the next few years as an increasing number of pre-teens enter their teens. Within this community framework we reach out to youth in relevant ways such as the world wide web, multi media resources, literature, music, local outreach activities and initiatives at social sports facilities, shopping centres, schools, training conferences and seminars plus events like Youth Week and an array of camps and recreational activities. We also provide links to organisations that provide specialist care and support for youth related issues e.g. substance abuse and addictions, mental health, counselling, and sexual abuse.

The Stepping Out Housing Program is a specialist agency that provides valuable services to women through support, advocacy and therapeutic modalities. Stepping Out is a non-profit community based organisation run by women for women, with or without children, who are survivors of childhood sexual assault. We provide supported, transitional accommodation for 6-12 months with holistic, strength-base case management and group programs. Stepping Out also offers needs-based resources including: Assistance and support in addressing the impacts of childhood sexual abuse on adult survivors. Weekly case management support sessions. Referral to other service providers and specialist services for counseling, general & mental health: drug, alcohol or gambling issues; parenting programs and legal services. Assistance with goal setting; education for future work; career planning and workforce transition innovative group programs to enhance communication, build living skills, confidence and self-esteem and address social isolation. Support with legal and family court matters. Assistance and support with housing applications. Ongoing outreach case management support following transition to independent living. Our goal is to build a well resourced and capable organisation that is recognised and respected as a leader in proving quality services for survivors of childhood sexual assault.

Group 61 is a voluntary, charity organisation devoted to breaking the isolation and enhancing the lives of the mentally ill. The charity partners dedicated volunteers with individuals who need support, who they refer to as ‘friends’. Volunteer-friend relationships are established over a weekly outing, often a coffee and a chat, where friends are empowered with confidence, trust and fulfilment of life. There are currently 135 volunteers and 116 friends being supported by Group 61, with a waiting list of friends that continues to grow. Group 61 receive no funding from the Government and rely entirely on generous donations and fundraising events to continue their life changing work. It costs an average of $250 per year for the charity to support one volunteer-friend relationship.
