Every year, the Mary MacKillop Foundation gives grants of up to $10,000 to ‘small life-changing projects’ to meet the increasing needs in the community, and in doing so continues the philosophy of ‘never see a need, without doing something about it”. In 2013 we approved 73 small life changing projects throughout Australia. As well as this, the Foundation has funded Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Tertiary Scholarships for over a decade with 50 graduates and another 42 currently enrolled. In fact one in twenty five Indigenous doctors in Australia has been supported by our scholarship. From the 64 project in 2012 evaluation reports, we can also confirm that our small community projects have touched the lives of over to 15,000 people nationally and as you might know, since 1995 we have funded over 500 projects. Last year, 10 Scholarship recipients graduated with degrees in medicine, nursing, midwifery, teaching and community management. Additionally, the Foundation has funded Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tertiary Scholarships since 1999 with 50 graduates in 2012 and another 45 students currently enrolled.
