The St. Mary's PTA work hard to support the school with fundraising events throughout the year. Money helps to provide a wide range of opportunities for all of the pupils.
Our programme was established with the primary aim and objective of providing rugby coaching to the young people of Leith and, through the sport’s associated physical, mental and social and wellbeing benefits, help address the social deprivation challenges facing Leith’s 14 decile 1 & 2 SIMD zones. We also work with and within the local community, to involve all children, embrace diversity, and ensure there are no barriers for any parent or child to overcome. Whilst our programme is primarily aimed at school children in the local environment including those children attending primary Roman Catholic schools, other local young people from outwith the local school catchment attend our extra-curricular sessions where they are made most welcome. Other Aims and Objectives are to: - 1. Increase participation in rugby among 5 to 18 years old children in the Leith area; 2. Provide curricular rugby coaching to children who attend local schools; 3. Provide extra-curricular coaching to children in the Leith area; 4. Establish and promote age-related rugby teams and competition for under 18 boys; 5. Establish and promote age-related rugby teams and competition for under 18 girls; 6. Create a pathway to develop the child’s rugby skills and provide them with an opportunity to progress to our senior teams. 7. Source sufficient funding to enable us to deliver on our aims and objectives.
