We support families by offering information, advice, support, counselling, courses, coffee mornings, training, and a resource library. For pre-school disabled children we offer the Little Stars project, a parent/child teaching and play programme based on the principles of conductive education. The aim of this project is to encourage the development of young children and babies with complex needs and physical delay. Our Early Years keyworker offers support to families with pre school complex needs children, helping co-ordinate the many appointments with professionals necessary, signposting for other sources of help and advice while liaising with the other professionals that are working with the family to encourage a less stressful and more seamless service. We are working with the local authority to test new government plans for the assessing and providing for the health, care and education needs of disabled children in Bexley. Our Pathfinder worker is responsible for helping families with this new process and reporting any successes or difficulties. The CEO of SNAP sits on strategic boards and planning groups, ensuring that the needs of disabled children and families are considered in future plans for services across the borough.
