Wokingham theatre is an energetic and passionate community theatre founded in 1947. We present 8 major productions a year alongside Youth Theatre productions, short runs of less well known plays, evenings of new writing, and a wide range of theatrical skills training. We have a 146 seat theatre, our productions run for 9-10 nights and are mostly sold out. Back stage is full to overflowing with wardrobes, set building, props storage etc. We have 100 youth theatre members in 5 classes, there is more demand! We need more space to provide more opportunities for the ever growing local community. We aim to expand our capacity for our technical teams as well as adding extra seats, improved disabled access and a new Studio theatre. We are also hope to provide extra rehearsal space for our growing youth theatre. Everyone is a volunteer - actors, set builders, box office staff etc. The theatre is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected from the membership by democratic vote each year.

(UK, XT32343) Browse eventsISARC NI is the first Sarcoidosis Support Group established in Northern Ireland. We exist to help suffers & their families get quality information on this common but unpublicised condition and a provide forum to receive support. Sarcoidosis (sar-koy-DO-sis) is a disease of unknown cause that leads to inflammation. This disease affects your body’s organs. Normally, your immune system defends your body against foreign or harmful substances. For example, it sends special cells to protect organs that are in danger. These cells release chemicals that recruit other cells to isolate and destroy the harmful substance. Inflammation occurs during this process. Once the harmful substance is gone, the cells and the inflammation go away. In people who have sarcoidosis, the inflammation doesn't go away. Instead, some of the immune system cells cluster to form lumps called granulomas (gran-yu-LO-mas) in various organs in your body. Sarcoidosis can affect any organ in your body. However, it's more likely to affect some organs than others. The disease usually starts in the lungs, skin, and/or lymph nodes (especially the lymph nodes in your chest). Also, the disease often affects the eyes and liver. Although less common, sarcoidosis can affect the heart and brain, leading to serious complications. If many granulomas form in an organ, they can affect how the organ works. This can cause signs and symptoms. Signs and symptoms vary depending on which organs are affected. Many people who have sarcoidosis have no signs or symptoms or mild ones. Lofgren's syndrome is a classic set of signs and symptoms that is typical in some people who have sarcoidosis. Lofgren's syndrome may cause fever, enlarged lymph nodes, arthritis (usually in the ankles), and/or erythema nodosum (er-ih-THE-ma no-DO-sum). Erythema nodosum is a rash of red or reddish-purple bumps on your ankles and shins. The rash may be warm and tender to the touch. Treatment for sarcoidosis varies depending on which organs are affected. Your doctor may prescribe topical treatments and/or medicines to treat the disease. Not everyone who has sarcoidosis needs treatment. The outlook for sarcoidosis varies. Many people recover from the disease with few or no long-term problems. More than half of the people who have sarcoidosis have remission within 3 years of diagnosis. “Remission” means the disease isn't active, but it can return. Two-thirds of people who have the disease have remission within 10 years of diagnosis. People who have Lofgren's syndrome usually have remission. Relapse (return of the disease) 1 or more years after remission occurs in less than 5 percent of patients. Sarcoidosis leads to organ damage in about one-third of the people diagnosed with the disease. Damage may occur over many years and involve more than one organ. Rarely, sarcoidosis can be fatal. Death usually is the result of problems with the lungs, heart, or brain. Poor outcomes are more likely in people who have advanced disease and show little improvement from treatment. Certain people are at higher risk for poor outcomes from chronic (long-term) sarcoidosis. This includes people who have lung scarring, heart or brain complications, or lupus pernio (LU-pus PUR-ne-o). Lupus pernio is a serious skin condition that sarcoidosis may cause. Research is ongoing for new and better treatments for sarcoidosis.

(UK, 1099561) Browse eventsThe Mulberry Tree Kindergarten and Parent/Toddler group was founded by parents whose children’s needs were central to their decision to provide a Waldorf Steiner Early Years Education. By creating a beautiful kindergarten for our children to work and play in, we encourage them to have a sense of wonder, reverence and love for their environment. Children’s healthy enthusiasm for life is shown in their movement and imaginative play. Kindergarten settings are beautiful; they nourish the young child’s senses and enhance his/her well-being. The kindergarten children play, tidy away, pause, dream, rest and are given songs, rhymes, poems and stories, carefully chosen to accommodate each child within the changing seasons and years. As each child grows and changes the curriculum moves and breathes too, supporting his/her development. The kindergarten is part of the Mulberry Tree Steiner Early Years Group. The Group aims to support the development and the education of young children by helping parents to understand and provide Steiner education. The Group offers opportunities for all children, regardless of race, culture, religion, disability or means, encourages the study of the needs of such groups and acts as a resource centre for news of local and national Steiner events and courses. The Group is also currently developing a Class 1 for 7-year-olds, continuing on from Kindergarten. The Mulberry Tree’s home is the small and welcoming Parish Hall in Cromhall, South Gloucestershire. The kindergarten toys, tables, chairs and equipment are all made from natural materials like wood, beeswax, wool, clay and willow. Steiner Waldorf kindergartens believe it is important for young children to be in touch with the product of the natural world around them.
The Samaritans of Inverclyde are here for people who are in despair, even to the point of considering taking their own life. When we are contacted by telephone, e-mail, SMS texting or face-to-face at the branch, we listen and do not judge. We allow our caller anonymity and provide a safe and confidential service where anyone can speak of his or her own problems. We believe that by doing this our caller can then see their options clearer. We have specially trained volunteers and are also in partnership with mental health organisations and the homeless. Our vision is that fewer people die by suicide and our mission is to expand our branch to be available as many hours as possible for people in need of our support. The branch is self funded and costs about £10000 a year to run, therefore any donations are gratefully received and contribute to the continuity of our service.

Even small donations have had considerable impact. Just £15 a month pays for the clothing, food, housing and schooling for a child. We have seen the number at the orphanage more than double so the needs are as great as ever. By the end of 2014 we are looking to finish paying off the mortage on the orphanage and then look to develop on land we have available in Katmandu for more orphanage facilities in line with local Nepalese government requirements. We regularly send teams from the UK to support this work so whether financial or in person, you can make a difference in the lives of those we care for in Project Nepal. We are so grateful for all the people who have raised funds through churches, schools, businesses & schools. Please support all those who are engaging with new adventures this year.
